But being black - completely unbelievable. That's like me moving to Japan and saying that all the characters in Japanese literature do not look like me so therefore they're racist, I don’t care what colour she is meant to be personally.nGiven that J K Rowling had a big say in the cast of the films, if colour were important to her why did she not insist on a black actress to play Hermione in the first place?

Try changing a bunch of beloved black characters to white and watch the net melt down.  Leviosa Hermione shirt.  I think it's important to note that it's not her race that's the issue it's the changing of her race that's the issue. The backlash would be the same even worse if JK Rowling had originally written her as black and then changed her to White. I think it's similar to the frustration that many people used to have with George Lucas constantly changing aspects of his universe.
