I wanted to have fun with the costume but also honor my own country and traditions, so we dressed up as Los Novios - The Day of the Dead Bride and Groom. Here we are (this is actually my boyfriend and I.) There was a contest held at the party and Boyfriend and I returned home holding the trophy for 1st Prize. I wish I could post a picture of the trophy, but it was rather garish and I just couldn't bring myself to keep it. October 31st. It fell on a Wednesday, so guess who did not wear a costume at all? Yep, me. I was stuck in my school uniform, sitting behind a desk, scrawling notes all over my textbook. That’s not to say that I didn’t have any fun at all this Halloween though. Truth is, it was the best Halloween I’ve ever had, just celebrated one weekend early — there was a parade in our neighborhood the Saturday before Halloween, and there was no way I was gonna miss out this year.

In markets they sell Day of The Dead themed items, most notably sugar skulls that look like this: In Mexico, The Day of the Dead is spent with your family and is a public holiday. The first time I ever dressed up for Halloween was in San Francisco, to attend a party with my boyfriend. It was early on in our relationship, so it must have been about three years ago.

The primary differences I see in German Shepherd Dog bloodlines are of two sorts. First, you have working dog bloodlines, vs AKC show types. Secondly, you have the slant-back type vs the traditional straight back. The slant-back dogs are of the show-type bloodlines, not working. However, you can find some show-type bloodlines with straight backs. And, importantly, you will find differences in personality and instinct patterns between working bloodlines and show-type bloodlines. Today these differences have even led to sub-breeds being created to try and address one shortcoming or the other. So, you’ll find Swiss Shepherds, Shiloh Shepherds, and more. Generally, the European bloodlines are considered to be more “working” bloodlines, while the US bloodlines are more likely to be show bloodlines. The show bloodlines have the sloped back.

Fortunately, not as dog-friendly as it used to be. I remember the days, back in the eighties and nineties, that dog owners were free to just let their dog shit anywhere. You would always keep your eye half on the pavement when walking because there would be a turd on the sidewalk every couple of meters. The city actually smelled like dog shit a little. There was rarely a week that you wouldn’t step in it at least once. The only measure that was taken was the occasional sign suggesting to let the dog use the gutter, which (a) was usually ignored and (b) didn’t really solve the smell problem. Fortunately, some civilized measures were taken and now the problem is virtually non-existent. As long as you don’t let your dog shit on the road, we’re perfectly ok with dogs.

Cats don’t like change. They notice when something/someone is missing, and get confused when it/he/she disappears but they are very adaptable and basically just shrug (can cats shrug? Discuss) and get on with it. But here’s something weird. We’ve had cats for nearly 15 years, a total of 5, mostly two at a time (yeah I know, we’re twice as mad! And by the way, I can assure you we aren’t serial cat murderers - mostly died of old age except one with a heart attack and another from cancer). But here’s the thing: when there are two cats and one dies, somehow the remaining one starts to exhibit the behavior patterns of the dead one - in the latest case Cleo did this even though in life she never even liked George! She couldn’t stand him coming near her and would frequently lash out at him.

They have shelves and cubby holes for Marley to hide in. Marley sleeps in his tree a lot. You will need a scratcher for your cat to scratch instead of your furniture. Many cat trees have these built-in. If not, you will want to get a scratching post or some other kind of scratcher. I would definitely recommend a cat tree by a window. There are so many cat trees to choose from. You can find a smaller one to fit your apartment.
