 Some dogs will love a frisbee and others will not. Go to a pet store and find the nylon disc called Tail Spin Flyer. Amazon has them too. Get the smaller ones as they fly better. These are great for dogs as they are soft. Now find a big flat field and start getting the dog interested. Try rolling it on the ground, tug, anything. Work up to throwing about 20–35 feet and see how your dog does. My dog can’t get enough of it. It helps that she is from a retriever family.

If you mean that you want the dog to just bark at the cats and scare them off then yea that’s okay but if you mean you want the dog to kill the cats then you have a mental problem. It’s already hard enough to survive on your own as a stray let alone a cat. Especially since stray cats get twice as much hate as stray dogs and get abused and poisoned more often than other stray (commonly known house pet) animals. Imagine being a cat just looking for food, water, safety, love, just anything that can keep you (and maybe your kittens) alive and have a fighting chance at life and here comes a big dog (I’m assuming 2–5 times bigger than you though some dogs are even bigger than that) and it starts attacking you and trying to kill you. That’s terrifying to think about even as a human. Cats are very misunderstood and shouldn’t be treated as badly as they are. Just like humans, they can get mental problems, they have emotions and feelings, they need food and water to survive and they didn’t ask to be born so they are just trying their best to make it through life just like a normal person. So cut the cats some slack and don’t kill them. Scare them off? Sure, but do not kill them please

I wasn't against this option, I'd do anything for him but mind you this surgery didn't have a very good success rate. Being 4 pounds and having no teeth, no jaw bone already due to his age. Came to the conclusion that the best option was to have him euthanized. I was there the whole time during the process, didn't want to leave his side, constantly sobbing including the drive home knowing that he could have had another few years left maybe if I didn't do something so stupid. I came here because I needed to get this off my chest. I already know what I did was wrong and I feel so awful about the whole thing constantly crying for days. I wish I could take it all back, I loved him so much.

 I screwed up something with his spine. Mind you my dog weighed 4 pounds and was 14 years old. I was ironically on my way to the vet which is why he was in my car with me. I was treating him for 2 weeks for an ear infection and taking him back for the doctor to check on him. I got there and was informed that he was in fact paralyzed after they did a deep pain test. I bursted into tears right then and there. I had him stay the night so they could try and use a steroid to reduce inflammation and see if that would help. That night I got no sleep, maybe an hour or two at most. Woke up very early and headed straight back to see how he was doing. I got there and once again I started crying because he was the same as the day before.

 Let me explain that I didn't straight up accidentally kill my pet. I was frustrated and the result of my negligence ended up seriously injuring my dog. I pushed him hard into the passenger seat of my car, and I was mad because of other factors that also happened in the moment. He was whining and while I was dealing with something on my phone I kept telling him to be quiet and he wouldn't stop so I picked him up, looked at him and told him sternly to be quiet and I put him back down into the seat vigorously is the best way to put it. Soon as I put him in the seat he cried out in pain and I instantly knew I really messed up. What happened was the back half of his body became paralyzed.

 I live alone with my 100 pound mostly shepherd mix. There are times I’m gone for 8 hours or more and he’s left indoors. When I get home he first greets me, then dashes for his water bowl and drains it. He’s figured out he can’t empty his bladder until I return, so he doesn’t drink (although he has a big thirst) until I get home. He figured it out on his own as I have no way of knowing how he could be trained for that behavior.

 Cheap AND healthy? No. The only way to make your own an ensure it’s healthy for your pets is to get a consultation with a DACVN and then you need to make sure you buy exactly what is on the diet plan for your pet(s). It can be done sure. But it won’t be cheap if you want it to be healthy. You don’t need to pay top dollar for stuff like Taste of the Wild and Blue Buffalo….those are boutique foods that “bank” on you thinking it must be the best to be that expensive. However, most of those types of companies do NOT have veterinary nutritionists on staff to formulate their foods, they do not do feeding trials, they do not make their own food-they send the formula and bags off to a 3rd party to make their food and they don’t test whether the formula is actually providing nutrition that is bioavailable to the dogs and cats being fed. Many of these companies have also been the ones being fed to the dogs that develop nutritionally mediated dilated cardiomyopathy (heart disease caused by the food). You can get a really affordable food such as Purina for both dogs and cats. Iams is pretty affordable too. Both have done extensive testing and feeding trials. I’d trust this over trying to make my own “cheap healthy” food.

A cat’s kiss on my hand is special

 As a person who has had many pets since childhood that I have loved, and been loved back by them, I can definitely tell you that there is no other love that is as pure and unconditional as a dog’s or cat’s. I did have a couple of gold fish also that my father bought me when I was about 9 years old. I love animals of all types even though some are a bit big for the house, you know, elephants, tigers, lions, wolves. A cat’s kiss on my hand is special, and a dog’s kiss on my hand is special also. And when I have been gone, they jump up and down they are so excited I am back. I cannot imagine a world without them and their love. They respond to love and quickly return it. So be kind and loving to them, you will not be disappointed.
