I know that it always bothered me when I was paid to do a job I was experienced in, for less than someone who held an academic degree with out any relevant experience. They quit before I did because they could only hide how shit at the job they were, for so long.

That was part of my incentive for returning to the classroom and also because I had worked in an industry that exploits workers and I would rather be on the other side of the table and represent the worker. So I wanted to change career, I had worked my way up about as far as I could go in recruitment as a branch manager from door knocking and selling windows, soffits and fascias (my first job) with only a basic education, I have eleven GCSEs C and above, but that's considered basic.

So yeah, I started university with the aspiration of becoming a barrister specialising in employment law and by the end of the third year, when I should have been studying, I learnt a skill and became a wood carver, sculptor, crafts person instead.

It was the favorite time of my life, but probably because of my age. Little responsibility even though I did move away from home and made it on my own. Started and then dropped out of college. I went back and worked full time and went to school full time and graduated with nearly a 4.0 GPA. But I was drunk or high for a great deal of the decade and don’t remember everything. I did have fun, but have some regrets. So the seventies are a time of of unsettled accomplishments for me

I read all the previous responses and maybe I'm missing something. How is a 14 year old expected to pay for her child's expensives? And pay her mom 1/2 the rent or give her $200 toward it?

Let us all go back to when we were 14. 14 and a freshman in high school and you can't get working papers until you are 16. You probably did not cook for yourself, wash your own clothes, bought food at the grocery store or secured your own health insurance. And yet this is what you believe this young girl can do?

What is your work? What do you not understand about your work? This question lacks so much crucially relevant information that there is no meaningful way to answer it. Please, explain. A fresh graduate of what? College? High school? How did you manage to graduate with “zero knowledge and skills?” You must have at least enough knowledge to speak and read and understand English and ask this question on Quora, so, what else do you know? You have enough knowledge to get hired at some kind of job, have you explained to your boss that you don’t understand the job? Why did they hire you if you have zero knowledge and skills? Should you go back to school and learn some knowledge and skills? Or, you can be a panhandler, a signer, you know, standing on the corner with a cardboard sign that says “Hungry please help God bless . . .”

Yep cause now your becoming a codependent parent to an adult son or daughter. You have to let / make them go and fall and get back up on there own even if that means there going to school of hard knocks they need to learn it on there own. only give advice if asked. Always have an open door policy for the day and that policy ends at 8 pm and they are out of the house with the front door locked and porch light turned off by 8:05 pm.

As the cat is still registered in your name legally it's yours. But please can I point out that this lovely little cat isn't a toy. And you have to ask yourself the question. As to why you gave it up in the first place. And for what reason. You may not like the place where it's gone. But constantly moving the cat is just as damaging. At the time of giving up the cat, you obviously thought that the place was okay. And what are you going to do with the cat if you get it back? It takes ages for cats to settle in a new home. So think long and hard before you make a decision. As to where you stand I don't know. Because you willingly gave the cat away. If anything, maybe you should have surrendered it to a rescue center. Who would make sure that the cat is placed in a suitable forever home? You don't say how long it's been. And you need to put the cat's best interest first. If the people are not treating it right then I would contact a local rescue center and ask for their advice.

I’ve had both to the vet, and there’s nothing wrong except the male is being a dick, and the target of his bullying is sweet and gentle and won’t stand up to him the way the others do. So the bullying persists. What has been helping is that putting a little bit of gabapentin in his food, which seems to have taken enough of the edge off him to where he behaves. Ask your vet about that as an option. We tried amitriptyline transdermally (he’s impossible to pill or medicate conventionally), and it made him lethargic and then stopped working. The victim also gets a small amount of Prozac in her food, which seems to have helped a little with her anxiety.

You didn’t mention how old the bully is, but if he’s (I’m assuming it’s a male) between 2 and 4, chances are he’s entered “social maturity,” and that’s when they become even more territorial. I had the same thing happen with one of mine. He was a wuss when he arrived around age 2 or 3 and loved being part of the gang (there were five then, four now), but after about 6 months here, he started tormenting one of the others, who is now terrified of him and if I don’t keep watch, will pee outside the litter box. (The bully will ambush her if I don’t separate them when she needs to pee and poop.)

That depends on how much patients and love you have to give. I have eight cats that I feed. 7 of them are spoiled rotten, but one is still timid. I have 4 indoors and 4 outdoors. The 4 outdoors are so because they always have been. They all came up to be fed as adult cats not kittens. I rescued 2 kittens that 1 of the outdoor cats had because they were only about 4 weeks old and the temperature was about to drop to 28 degrees and being that young their survival chances were slim to none since they were too young to endure temps that low. They cannot regulate their own body temperature while they are that young. I never thought I would have more than 2 cats at one time but sometimes life just throws more at you than one would have taken on otherwise. I just could not let those cute little fur babies die. I have gotten 4 of them spayed/ neutered, 2 already were before I adopted them so that leaves 2 males that I need to get neutered. They just recently started coming around. The SPCA is great to work with on getting cats fixed at a very low cost to you. They will also give them any other medical treatment the cat's needs while under sedation. They do clip the cats left ear as a marker that the cat has been fixed also though. That way any other agency that would try to catch and fix the cat will already know they it has been fixed already so they will not be wasting their time and resources. Hope this helps. It depends on the dog, the day, and the temperature, much like it does with people. I will say that rescue dogs do not generally like the rain. For some, it’s a mild dislike, but for others, it’s intense fear. I fostered a pit bull once who if she absolutely had to pee while it was raining I’d take an umbrella outside and kneel over her petting her and cooing until she was done. She always peed immediately at such times and then would immediately try to go back inside. She’d shiver for an hour afterward, even if it was a warm night out and warm inside. The reason for this is simple: Rain is a lot more fun if you know being out in it is temporary.

They were kind of a blend between livestock guardian and herder. Protective of the “resource”, but not really bonded with the sheep as family and still firmly aware they were food. They also couldn’t do the precise herding of such large herds as true herding dogs like collies, kelpies, Koolies, and “Aussie and English” shepherds (both American), instead, they loosely drive a smaller band of sheep around from this pasture to that pasture, working closely with a shepherd, and then watch over them loosely as well. They are very intelligent with fairly balanced primitive drives and attributes, and indeed the instincts and principles used in the “living fence” herding approach are actually used by wild wolves which live as “living fences” for herds of elk, bison, and musk ox, and it is likely to man learned grazing and herding from primitive “living fence” dogs.
