I’m afraid I don’t have a picture of his ‘dog mom’, but this is my little buddy shortly after coming home from the rescue farm to live with me. Before I could pick him up and take him, he and his siblings were in the care of an ENORMOUS shepherd dog, and she was the gentlest mama you could ever hope for— she’d been the foster mom to the kittens’ mama as well, so it was more like ‘grandma’ stepping in after the babies were born to help raise them. While many animals came and went, coming into the rescue and then getting forever homes elsewhere, this dog was a permanent staff member, and her favorite job was looking after kitties, making sure they were safe and adjusting well to the place.
