They can go straight to Hell. Cricket was penciled in as an event in the very first modern Olympic Games at Athens in 1896, it was listed in the original program but was later shelved due to an insufficient number of entries. By refusing, they had to have breached some participation clause that is part of the Olympic Games Charter or something to that effect. If they knew the rules before committing to participate and then played some political posturing game based on something that had nothing to do with the games themselves, then clearly, that could invite a ban. But can we hold athletes responsible for their governments’ actions or points of view?
