Pro sports don’t have a mercy rule because the fans paid to watch a game. They are owed that by the teams - and part of professional sportsmanship is that sometimes you lose. You don’t have to like it, but you have to accept it.
Video games and friendly games have a mercy rule to end the suffering because people have other things to do with their time - they aren’t being paid to play.
