If your dog is being used as a “guard” dog meaning part of its purpose is to protect you and your property, the PO has the right to require you to remove the dog. Why? Because it’s a safety hazard for the officer who has to come into your home and visit the parolee whenever they want. Criminals purposely train and use vicious dogs to protect their drugs, stolen goods, money, weapons etc. They use these animals as the first line of offense against police and POs. They use them to buy time before allowing the officer into their home. They use them to intimidate and distract people because their criminals and they want to be able to conduct their business without law enforcement intervention for as long as possible.
