Martial arts when nothing else will do shirt

Yeah, this is an interesting question to me. I think there is ‘an intellectual war’ going on in the family unit that is not acknowledged. Here is the thing. You stand at the cross-roads of an inter-generational change in the way kids are raised, and the context in which they are raised. Here are the important points of difference.

What is apparent is that ‘if aspiration is what they wanted’, they don’t like the results. They don’t like me being better than them. I feel particularly with my mother, because she is the critical one, that she is competing with me. My father is less likely to compete. They just have very ‘narrow ideas on what success looks like’. So, the idea of me ‘making money on stocks’ is gambling, or ‘winnings’ as my mother calls it. My business ideas, which would be fine if they were her ‘business ideas’, are open to derision because they are mine, even when I query here. When I critique her ideas, like me questioning her logic, and her telling me she studied ‘logic’, and me asking her to name ‘one logical fallacy’, and she can’t. She is caught out, and she is at that point ‘conciliatory’. Nothing will change though. She’ll be on my side if her BF does the same thing to be. So, I’m in this ‘competition’ with her. In my view, I’m just being objective. I don’t mind criticism. I just want objective standards. In her estimate, she is ‘under attack’. And even if I got her to concede that, she will not ‘retain that awareness’. There is a memory fade of the conversation, and she falls back into type, whereas my father has kind of repressed the expectation that ‘I’d be different’ and just adopts this ‘safe mode’ of saying all the time, ‘Its great that you’re passionate about what you do’.
