All water dogs as their breed names imply. My personal favorite is Irish Water Spaniels (IWS). Super energetic (if you can’t give them daily exercise outings, not for you), super smart (if you can’t give them mental stimulation whether that be constant learning, cognitively challenging toys, working tasks, etc not for you), super attractive with silky soft “non-shedding” hair (if you can’t give them regular grooming, not for you), super goofy (if you don’t like to laugh, not for you), super expressive honey brown eyes (if you can’t sink into the most expressive facial expressions, not for you), relatively uncommon mid to large size monotone (rich dark chocolate) dogs. I believe IWS are AKC’s only spaniel classified as a sporting dog. AKA (affectionately and an homage to their goofy personalities) “whip tails” “rat tails” for their long very short haired tails (which strikingly contrast to long curly body hair). Mine have gotten mis-ID’d as Standard Poodles (70% of time), Labradoodles (15%), Portuguese Water Dogs (10%), Others (4% like the fictitious Curly Haired Afghan).
